Venom Basketball 2026 Season Review
This season has been an exciting and eventful one for all our teams at Venom Basketball. From competitive showings in the Men’s 3rd Division to remarkable progress in our youth teams, every player has contributed to a season full of growth, teamwork, and determination.
Men’s 3rd Division: Strong Fall and Competitive Spring
Our Men’s 3rd Division team kicked off the fall season with an impressive 10-2 record, finishing second in the league. This strong performance secured a spot in the ylempi jatkolohko for the spring season. The team finished the season in third place, narrowly missing out on promotion to the second division with a 9-2 record. While injuries and player availability presented challenges, our team’s commitment and resilience have allowed us to remain competitive and continue fighting for each win.
U19 Team: Competing in the National League
The U19 National League team has had a mixed season with it’s ups and down. They finished the fall season in second place with a 7-1 record, demonstrating skill, consistency, and teamwork.
Ending the spring season with a 4–4 record alongside three other teams (Salo Basketball, BC Sisu, and HoNsU/JBA), the team just missed out on a top-four spot, despite posting the second-best point differential, as qualification was decided by head-to-head results. The boys continued to show growth and development in both individual skills and collective play throughout the season. Their performances highlighted the talent and dedication within Venom Basketball’s youth program.
The team was led by standout performers like Alex Osayi-Edwins and Kerry Kukwa.
- Alex averaged 23.53 points (10th in the National League), 18.53 rebounds (1st in the National League), 3.4 assists, and 2.4 blocks (4th in the National League). Giving him an average index rating of 42.13 (1st in the National League).
- Kerry averaged 11.63 points, 5.31 rebounds, 4.31 assists, and 4.06 steals (6th in the National League). Giving him an average index of 16.25
U13 Team: From a Tough Autumn to a Promising Spring
The U13 team had a challenging start, finishing the fall season with a 2-8 record and placing second to last. The spring season, however, brought a remarkable turnaround. The team lost only to the top two squads, HNMKY/Pakila Black and Beat Basket Black, and finished with an impressive 10-2 record. This strong performance earned them a spot in the playoffs and a victory in the bronze medal game, reflecting significant growth in skills, teamwork, and confidence. Their journey highlights the importance of perseverance, consistent practice, and dedication in youth basketball development.
U9 Team: Undefeated Season & an Impressive Points Differential
Our youngest players, the U9 team, had an outstanding season. They remained undefeated with a perfect 18-0 record and an impressive average point difference of approximately 36 points per game. High-scoring games such as 92-8 and 76-17 highlighted the team’s growing chemistry, skill development, and enthusiasm for the game. Each match has been an opportunity for learning, teamwork, and building a love for basketball at this foundational stage.
