Venom at NBA Basketball School Portugal
From March 30 to April 1, 2026, Venom Basketball Finland coaches and players took part in an international training experience at NBA Basketball School Portugal in Lisbon. The event was part of the official Easter training period, bringing together players aged 13 to 18 in a structured, high-level development environment.
However, this trip meant more than just travel. Most importantly, it gave us the opportunity to step into a fully structured, NBA-aligned system and test ourselves against a higher international standard.
Learning the NBA Basketball School Way
The NBA Basketball School operates as a global network that focuses on long-term player development. In particular, the program develops not only technical skills but also decision-making, discipline, and game understanding.
At the Portugal camp, every session followed this philosophy. For example, coaches constantly challenged players to read the game, react under pressure, and communicate effectively. Instead of isolating skills, the training connected every action to real game situations. As a result, players experienced methods used across the global NBA Basketball School network.
Elite Training Environment
In Lisbon, each day reflected a professional training environment. Specifically, sessions combined skill development, competition, and physical preparation under experienced NBA-approved coaches.
From the start, players noticed the difference in pace and intensity. Coaches corrected mistakes immediately, while drills quickly turned into live competition. At the same time, coaches emphasized precision and execution rather than just effort.
Because of this structure, players had to adapt constantly. Consequently, they moved beyond their usual comfort zones and accelerated their development.
